All the designs in this project file are pretty … and the one above certainly is pretty.
I particularly like the border of the second design.

The colours in this project file are very fresh … caused by the green which looks like the weeds which come up in my garden after a good rain.
I love the second design!

I love the colours … very feminine though!
I love the second design for the colour choices and the pretty floral applique and quilting motifs.

I started this project file after a road trip which included some rather impressive public buildings, some in the national capital. I thought some of my applique designs could look impressive if were used on tiles to use on floors in hallways, along with kitchens, laundries, bathrooms and toilets. All I have do now is win a massive cross lotto so I can get them made and installed!
In the meantime I can play with virtual quilt designs without damaging any fabric.

Nine applique blocks plus lots and lots of quilting.
I like the second one … a bit more applique, less quilting.

Interesting … and could be interesting to see it made up with mixed colours. Of course, the background colour could be any darkish colour with white applique and quilting too.
I like the stronger contrast in the second design, achieved by simply using five applique blocks with more solid shapes.

Another old project I have been playing with, this time also in a new colourway. The original colours were very dark, and I love them, but I am also loving the softer colours in the new version.
Need to play a bit more … suspect a lighter background is needed in some places.

This is a new colourway, with some new block variations, of the Anna Pavlova project. I have been playing with this, and a few other project files, which have been sitting in my Electric Quilt folders for quite some time.
The old projects are new again!
I hope I never find a cure for my addiction to designing quilts … but I should spend more time at least finishing some real ones!

My fabric choices in this project file started with the busy pansy print. Then I added some not quite plain fabrics in colours featured in the pansies, and then chose a neutral background.
The second design is a bit busy for me, though perhaps it might look OK on a queen size bed.
The quilting as shown would be in a contrast colour to the background, but what is not shown is a filler in thread to match the background. Stippling would be my first choice, but small circles, or a simple grid would work too.

Blue is not my favourite colour, but it looks OK with some pink and purple in this project file.
I do love having empty spaces to show off some quilting, and I prefer to not use feathers. I like feathers, but prefer to see formal designs with either bubbles, squiggles, straight lines or cross hatch filling in the background around both the formal quilting designs and the applique.
One thing I do not like is to see all over quilting which has no real relationship to the pieced or applique on the quilt top.

Very interesting, and my favourite for the day above.
A very neat and tidy collection of umbrella florals, but judging from the sounds outside, not a great day to be carrying an umbrella … rather windy!

I worked on this project file in reverse … I started with some layouts, added quilting motifs, then added applique block designs.
Most of the layouts have been used elsewhere, and so have the block designs.
In the first design with the applique added I am happy with all the applique choices except the corner blocks.
They don’t fit well with the applique, and will need to find some different quilting motifs from the applique blocks to fit the empty spaces between diagonal applique shapes.
There are about ten different quilted designs waiting for the applique to be added, and ...

Fiddly, but the results would look great on a bed.
The second design is may favourite for today.
